This really is a true story. I am writing this on Saturday, June 19th at 6:45am from my home in Sheffield in the UK. I have suffered from high blood pressure for many years now and have been on medication for longer than I care to remember. Many times I have tried to diet, exercise, reduce alcohol intake etc. Every time I have started with the best intentions, but eventually I give up! How common is high blood pressure in pregnancy?

Just wondering, lately I've seen a lot of questions and answers where woman have had high blood pressure during their pregnancies. Thanks for the answers! It is normal for blood pressure to increase during pregnancy, like 120-125 and 80-90. If your blood pressure goes 140-145/90 then it is considered elevated and will be monitored. I have gestational hypertension and my blood pressure has gone from elevated to high back to elevated enough that I am on house rest, need to go for blood/urine work weekly and I … [Read more...]

How do I lower my high blood pressure with breathing?

I've heard that breathing can be used to lower high blood pressure but I don't want to spend a lot of money on a gadget to try it. Does anyone know if you can learn it by yourself and how? It's true that you don't need an expensive gadget for this. But it's more than just relaxing. You have to breathe in a special way. I've been doing it for a while and it really works. Here's a brief description: 1. Listen to soothing music. It relaxes you and also helps keep your breathing smooth. 2. Adjust your breathing so that exhaling takes twice as long as inhaling. 3. Slow your breathing as far as comfortable. Practice this for 15 minutes a few times a week. Continue slowing your breathing over … [Read more...]
