I am taking a cough medicine called Tussionex. I have noticed that it (among others) has a warning label for people with glaucoma. I have been monitored with intraocular hypertension for about a year now. Could this medicine hurt my eyesight?

Thanks for your advice.

Some medicines have anticholinergic effects, and this can worsen some types of glaucoma.

You should not take any medication with this warning until you clear it with your ophthalmologist.

every morning when i awake in the morning i tend to be irritable and angry in the morning….does this have to do with low blood pressure?

i’m sorry i didn’t catch when you were irritable…was it the evening?

awhile back i was told i have high blood pressure. heredity is what i’m told. anyway my doctor said i was the next thing away from a stroke. i take medication now but how high does you pressure have to be before you have a stroke. mine was 165/105 at the time with vision loss in one eye. another note, im only 35, to young to let this go without doing something about it.

Any increase in blood pressure over the norm increases your risk of stroke. The more you are over the norm, the higher your risk of stroke. The recommended norm for blood pressure is 110/70. Blood pressure readings over 120/80 are pre-hypertensive. Blood pressure readings over 140/90 are hypertensive. Try avoiding foods that raise blood pressure (salty foods, snacks, processed meats) and eating foods that lower blood pressure (foods high in potassium). Walking 45 minutes a day at a moderate pace also helps.

I was already diagnosed with HBP and now after going to the doctor a few days ago, I was told that I have Pulmonary Artery Hypertension. I was just wondering if the PAH was a result of the initial HBP I already had. Thx.

You don’t give your age,the remainder of your medical history, your medication history, ethnic origin.occupational history nor smoking history, any of which might be linked to your PAH.

It is not linked to hypertension,in fact most is of unknown aetiology. It may be linked to COPD which is why I asked about smoking history. I assume that you have neither CHD,sickle cell anaemia or mitral valve disease as I am sure you would have mentioned them, all can lead to PAH.

For someone with diabetes. Is it safe to fly if they are feeling dizzy and has been determined they have low blood pressure?

I am diabetic and have low blood pressure and fly frequently with my job. (my boss buys cars on ebay. i fly to where ever they are, pick them up and drive them back.) I don’t normally feel dizzy, though. If I feel dizzy and have low blood sugar, I drink a glass of orange juice and eat a few glucose tablets and check my sugar every 15 or 30 minutes until it is normal. If I were you, I would place a quick call to my doctor just to be sure.
